Landscaping & hardscaping in Bethesda

A backyard can feel unfinished even when it has plenty of plants. In Bethesda, our complete backyard transformation brought the parts together: new planting beds, native perennials, and a natural stone border that defines the garden zones. If you’re thinking about a redesign, those edges matter as much as the plants inside them. They give each bed a place in the larger yard without asking every part of it to look the same.

Start with the way you use the yard

Think about where you want garden space and where you need room to move through it. Our design and installation work can begin with that layout, then turn to planting and the materials that hold the plan together. The stone border in the Bethesda project is one example of how a hard edge can make a planting scheme easier to read.

Not every property needs a full redesign. If it’s a path or patio you’re considering alongside new beds, see our hardscaping services. The gallery also has an illustrative fence image; the right starting point depends on what you want to change.

Before a Bethesda fence or stormwater project

Check the property address before planning the approvals: a Bethesda mailing address does not settle whether a nearby municipality has its own rules. For a property under county permitting authority, the county fence process covers new fences and its limited same-kind replacement exception. Our fencing page explains what else to check along the lot line.

If runoff is part of the project, the county RainScapes program lists qualifying stormwater practices and its geographic exclusions. Check eligibility before starting work, and see our drainage service for the landscape questions to discuss.
